reported speech ( also called indirect speech ) is used to communicate what someone else said , but without using the exact words. 
For example :
tina : jimmy where do you wants this holiday ?
Jimmy : i went to my grandmother house in Bandung
reported speech :
tina asked jimmy where he want to the holiday .
Jimmy said that he went to my grandmother house in Bandung
